Fed: Rent hikes to hurt many phone users: consumer advocates

CANBERRA, Jan 17 AAP - Telstra's line rental charge increases announced today would
hit many consumers hard, consumer advocates said.

Australian Telecommunications Users Group managing director Allan Horsley said Telstra
was treating its customers with disdain and had failed to adequately balance line price
hikes with cuts in call charges.

"It's telling them to just cop it," Mr Horsley told AAP.

"I suspect that for most people there's going to be an increase in their bill."
