Ath: Gatlin guns to 100 metres glory

America's JUSTIN GATLIN has upstaged his illustrious rivals to win a classic Olympic
100 metres final in a personal best time of 9.85 seconds.

The 22-year-old was flying at halfway and just held off fast-finishing FRANCIS OBIKWELU
of Portugal who finished one hundredth of a second behind.

Defending champion MAURICE GREENE of the United States has taken bronze a further hundredth
back in 9.87.

It's the closest 1-2-3 finish since electronic timing began in 1968.
