Fed: Saddam should not have been executed: Rudd

KEVIN RUDD says former Iraqi dictator SADDAM HUSSEIN deserved severe punishment for
his crimes against humanity .. but not the death penalty.

The ousted Iraqi president was executed in Baghdad today.

The execution came just four days after an Iraqi court upheld the death sentence handed
down after SADDAM was convicted for the 1982 massacre in the Iraqi city of Dujail.

The Labor leader says the former dictator had committed mass murder and deserved appropriate
punishment .. but he doubts whether his death will have any impact on the unrest in Iraq.
